Planned measures for restoration of river branch system
General objective of BROZ is to contribute to wetland and floodplain habitat restoration in cooperation with .
Within the project the main restoration works will be divided to several steps:
- removal of trees – mostly invasive alien species Negundo aceroides – growing on the barriers within the river branches and inside the dried sections.
- removal of various barriers from branch system including remains of forest logging or unused forest roads, constructed temporarily during lodging
- deepening of several parts of the river branches on the places where the sedimentation was most intensive during last few years, usually behind the artificial barriers
- re-connection of small isolated branches and wetlands to the system
- re-connection of the entire river branch system to the adjacent main river branches with good water supply on the places where it was connected in the past
