Expert study on restoration of steep river banks and nesting walls (A.1)

The result of this study is the identification of a number of sites that could potentially be adapted to suit the nesting and feeding demands of European Bee-eater, Sand martin and Kingfisher (shore height, food offer in the area, the threat of predators, target species nesting in the past).

It is concerning the sections on the main stream of Danube (Petržalka, Ružinov), Medveďov, Lél, Zlatná na Ostrove, Iža, Patince, Chľaba and the river Morava from mouth of Dyje to mouth of Rudava.

The study has been prepared from hydraulic and hydrological (Water research institute) as well as from biological and ecological perspective (Department of Zoology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University).

Outcomes of professional studies will serve other participants in the project as a technical basis for selecting the most appropriate sections for restoration of the natural river banks and perpendicular walls within the project and project area.
